Being a video game adaptation, I didn’t exactly have high hopes for ‘Rampage’. It follows the awful video game to film curse. As I expected, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson plays the same typecast character as an endearing nice guy who could also beat you up. The dialogue is extremely cliché and all focus is on the action rather than plot. Take the immensely unrealistic scene where The Rock gets shot and says, “luckily they missed all my vital organs” while walking away unharmed. The whole thing is one huge eye roll.

The iconic and nostalgic 80’s film ‘The Goonies’ however, continues to bring a huge smile to my face even on my 90th viewing, in typical Spielberg fashion. From the pirate treasure and booby traps to Chunks hilarious truffle shuffle, it will remain timeless for audiences in years to come. It is the heartwarming youthful adventure we all wish we had. The plot unfolds perfectly and the characters become our best friends as we journey with them. They really don’t make films like this anymore. The Goonies truly do “never say die”.
